
2024's railtours started well with Hastings Diesel's "The Surrey Hills Surprise" to Guildford via Hayes and London Blackfriars.
February is usually a quieter month for rail tours as the winter season draws to an end but the summer season hasn't begun yet.
Belmond's British Pullman makes up the majority of the tours, mainly on the Dover loop, with some heading to the Reading and beyond.
The EFL football final provided the highlight of the month with Class 86s back on the WCML.


March's tours started with HSTs returning to London Marylebone for the first time in a number of years.
Locomotive Services Limited then finished off the month with a Statesman tour to Portsmouth and a Saphos Golden Arrow to Canterbury.
April's tours brought a complete mix with Hastings Unit 1001 on a trip to Exeter, D1015 making its mainline tour return and 35028 "Clan Line" returning after overhaul.


May's tours started with Belmond's British Pullman visiting Highclere Castle from London Victoria.
D6515 began its month of tours with the London Transport 4TC coaches with the Branch Line Society.
Vintage Trains recreated the 1Z48 with 7029 Clun Castle on a two day tour including unassisted runs between Bristol and Plymouth and Plymouth and London.
50008 also took the 4-TC for tours and the West Coast Railways Class 86s returned to the West Coast Mainline.
Locomotive Services finished the month with 70000 between Windsor and Norwich.
June brought the return of the Belmond British Pullman's Golden Age of Steam tours to Dover with 35028 Clan Line.
The Dorset Coast Statesman from Locomotive Services Limited also made it's first trip to the south coast for the year and their Sunset Steam Express also began it's 2024 season.
West Coast Railway's Northern Belle also made a number of trips to South West London.


The Northern Belle returns to South West London for another tour and D1015 heads to the East Somerset Railway.
35028 Clan Line marks the end of steam on the Southern Region with the annual End of Southern Steam tour from the Railway Touring Company to Yeovil and Weymouth.
August was a good showing for Locomotive Services Limited's diesel fleet with the Dorset Coast Statesman on another trip to the south coast and the North West Wanderer demonstrating the wide range of LSL's diesel fleet around Preston.
The Northern Belle also was out around the North West with 34067 Tangmere providing the Settle and Carlisle Steam Special's motive power.


Steam Dream's returns to Winchester with 70000 passing on the way to Goodwood from London and 35028 "Clan Line" operates another Belmond Golden Age of Travel by Steam to Dover.
October was a quiet month for tours with the postponed Atlantic Coast Express and the final Statesman tour before the coaches go for overhaul.


The end of November brought the start of the Christmas tour season with 70000 and 44871 working from London to Bath and Bristol.
